Dr. Nicole Lackner D.C.
Dr. Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York in 1992. She started Palmer College of Chiropractic in October 1992, but soon left school for four years to be a stay at home mom. She returned to Palmer in 1998, and graduated in June 2000. She started practice in Peoria in January 2001, and opened Inner Spirit Chiropractic in February 2002. She is a Gonstead practitioner with an emphasis on pediatric and family care, which includes all the stages of pregnancy and postpartum. Her practice has grown to include special needs children and adults.
Dr. Nicole knows the importance of living a chiropractic lifestyle, starting as early as birth. Her burning desire is to see every child routinely adjusted after birth. She has a son who was adjusted moments after birth and continues to be raised with a preventive, proactive approach to health. Dr. Nicole was certified by Iowa State University to educate WIC mothers about their diet during pregnancy and benefits of breastfeeding. When called, Dr. Nicole went to the hospital to help moms with their first breastfeeding experience. Having done extended breastfeeding, Dr. Nicole can educate from personal experience, as well as research, on the many benefits of breastfeeding.
Dr. Nicole worked three jobs while attending Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York. While working for UPS (United Parcel Service) she was injured on the job. She was sent to a company doctor who offered her no relief or help – just pain pills and anti-inflammatory medications. Her hairdresser told her about chiropractic. She started seeing a chiropractor and immediately saw results. Soon she became interested in learning more about chiropractic and making it her career. Nassau Community College had a pre-chiropractic club on campus and she started attending their regular meetings and talks.
One particular speaker stood out because he talked about how chiropractic helped their bodies heal naturally. Dr. Jack Barnathan talked about several patients’ response to care and just radiated love for chiropractic and his patients. Dr. Nicole called Dr. Jack several days later and began working for him. She worked for him until she started Palmer College of Chiropractic. She witnessed many patients’ healing from conditions traditional medicine had given up on. Though many bodies healed under Dr. Jack’s care, he did not take the credit. He would let it be known that the patient’s body did the healing. All he did was remove the interference to that healing- the spinal misalignment. Dr. Nicole fell in love with chiropractic and the ability to help people naturally. She knew that she was meant to be a chiropractor.
In February 2001, Dr. Nicole won the Total Solution Essay Contest given by the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance (CLA). Her essay subjects included: “What Being A Chiropractor Means to Me” and “How Total Solution Will Help Me.” Total Solution is a 4 day retreat held on a 6000 acre ranch 8600 feet high in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. The goal of the seminar was to help chiropractors improve their lives both professionally and personally. She came back more focused, with greater enthusiasm and inner strength. As a result, she was better able to serve patients and her community.
In Peoria, Dr. Nicole is involved in local organizations. Dr. Nicole is a member of Rotary North Club of Peoria, (a community service organization) and belongs to BNI (Business Networking Organization) since the beginning of 2001. Having not grown up in Peoria, these organizations helped her get involved in her community.
Dr. Nicole knows the importance of spreading the chiropractic message and speaks often in her community. Besides serving her community, Dr. Nicole has spoken at several chiropractic colleges and chiropractic coaching groups and has done several presentations for the Gonstead Seminars about the power of the adjustment. She has been the subject of articles in both the mainstream and chiropractic media.
